First weekend of racing full of work for Bucci Moto, who after lot of months in the workshop finally got the opportunity to have the first official test bench in the season, with a first round at Mugello in the Italian Championship which saw the bikes from the Felino company racing in the Moto3 and Premoto3 classes.
Starting from the king class, the Moto3, the two riders of Bucci Moto Team, Francesco Mongiardo and Matteo Morri, started the weekend on Thursday improving, with the clear target to make kilometers and get datas and important informations for a new bike and for a category, the Moto3 450, which, even if in the same classification of the 250, at the moment can’t be on the same experience level of the other Moto3.
Anyway, the weekend overall has been positive, with Mongiardo who rode a good qualifying 1, staying just outside the points zone, with the sixteenth time, while Matteo Morri improved hisself a lot, important target for him who’s a rookie in the class.
On race 1, Mongiardo had a very good start, inserting in the group of riders fighting for the point zone, while unfortunately Morri, trying to stay with the group and due to the lack of experience in the category, ended the race with a crash after a few laps, while Mongiardo ended the race in 20th position.
On race 2, the two Bucci Moto riders completed both the race, with Matteo Morri who made a very good improvement on laptimes, had a best result than the teammate, penalized due to too many excursion out of the track, finishing in 19th and 20th place.
About the Premoto3, Samuele Santi, at his real debut in the Italian Championship, had a very good weekend, in which he improved step by step, finishing the qualifying 2 well in ninth place, then 8th due to some grid penalties.
Santi, on board his BR17GP3 in its Premoto3 version, in race, expecially at the start, paid the unexperience, and from the third row of the grid went to 21st place at the first turn at Mugello, with the start which unfortunately ruined his race.
The young emilian rider tried to recover as possible, but once lost the train of the first one fighting for the first position, he couldn’t make better than 16th, a results which is not the real potenial of Santi and Bucci Moto.
In fact, on race 2, despite a not very good start again, Santi went in the second group of riders, fighting lap by lap, improving laptimes, to finish in 8th place, but in the same group of riders who were fighting for the fifth place, for an important result which can make understandable the good potential of bike and rider.
Now, for Bucci Moto, it’s break time until the next weekend of racing in the Italian Championship at the end of july at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, for the second round of CIV 2020.
Claudio Bucci: “First race weekend of the season it’s always the most difficult one, because we start from zero and for us, in a new category with a new bike, with not too many preseason test due to the pandemic, wasn’t an advantage. But anyway I’m satisfied about the weekend, in moto3 there are still some problems to solve with the new ECU, which not depend on us, but for the rest the bike didn’t have problems and except for Morri’s crash in race 1 we finished the races with both the bikes with lot of improvements from the first day to the last and this satisfy me. Premoto3 for us was a big satisfaction, Samuele is a rookie who showed to be competitive, even if he made some bad starts which didn’t help him, but endend with a ìn eight place in the group of 5th is very good. Now, I want to thank all the partners who support us and I can’t wait for the next race in Misano!”
