First weekend of racing at Mugello Circuit done for Bucci Moto, and without doubt it has been the best weekend of the still small history of the team, with Matteo Morri in Moto3 and Cristian Basso and Nicola Plazzi in Premoto3, who made two incredible races, going home with good results and exponential improvements..
In the Moto3 class, Matteo Morri got confidence day by day, thanks to the great work of Bucci Moto’s technicians, who improved step by step the feeling of Matteo with the BR17GP3, starting from qualifying, in which the young rider of Claudio Bucci’s team finished in seventh position, making his best laptime during his career at Mugello.
But the improvements are not done yet, with Morri who, after a bad start in race 1, followed the group, overtook lot of rivals and get himself on the positions close to the podium, making the best lap of the race at that time, to finish then with a 6th place, improving again his laptime.
On race 2 Matteo gave everything he had, he started better than the first time then raced with the group fighting for the podium, being also on the virtual 3rd, finishing then in fourth position just 2 tenths off the one which would have been an incredible podium for the Bucci Moto Factory Team, but anyway it’s a great result for the growth of the team and which shows the potential of the BR17GP3.
Potential showed also in Premoto3, with Cristian Basso protagonist of the whole weekend, started fourth, then the young rider from Rome in race 1 finished seventh fighting for the victory, making very good laptimes during the race, while on the second one he was taken in the gravel by an accident of another rider and after coming back on track last with gap, he recovered until the second group to finish in ninth place.
Very good weekend also for Nicola Plazzi, who was at his debut on track at Mugello and he finished both the races in the points zone, first one in 14th place and second one in 10th, getting his first top 10 in his first career weekend, which for sure is positive, with exponential improvements from the first times and a potential still to be shown in the next weekends.
Very important also the riders and constructors championships, with Matteo Morri who is actually 6th in the Moto3 class, with Bucci Moto in second position, just behind KTM and in front of Honda, while in Premoto3 Basso is 7th with 16 points, Plazzi 11th with 8 points and in the constructor Bucci is fourth fighting for 3rd. And especially with lot of potential still to be shown, thanks to the work and presence of the crew chief Andrea Ballerini, who worked very well to find the best potential of the BR17GP3 and its riders.
Now next appointment is for the first race weekend at Misano, on 15th and 16th May.
Claudio Bucci: “I’m excited for the weekend we had, because I have to say it has been the first time in which we expressed part of our potential and the results were there. In Moto3 we grazed the podium in both races, we improved the bike in an incredible way thanks to the work of all the team and Matteo made two great races, finally showing his potential. In Premoto3 unfortunately bad luck prevent us to made big results with Cristian, but we showed a great race pace and to be able to fight with for the win. Last but not least, Nicola made an outstanding job, starting from Thursday he improved himself step by step and gave great show of character in the race, both in the points with a top 10 which is very positive for a rookie like him, conscious we still have potential more to show. I’m very satisfied about the whole weekend, the team and the riders and now we continue to work for the best at the second round at Misano. I want to thank the sponsors which support us and see you in less than a month for round 2”
